1. Who we are

Swahili Software Development Company Limited operates SwahiliPay from Dodoma, Tanzania. We act as a payment aggregator for merchants and work with Selcom Paytech Limited as our payment processing partner.

2. Data we collect

  • Merchant account details: name, phone, email, business information, KYC documents.
  • Transaction data: amounts, references, payment status, timestamps.
  • Technical logs: IP addresses, API usage, device/browser data for security.
  • Customer phone numbers when required to initiate mobile money collections.

3. How we use data

We process data to provide payment collection, settlement, fraud prevention, customer support, and regulatory compliance (including AML/CFT obligations with our PSP partner). We do not sell personal data.

4. Sharing

We share necessary transaction and merchant data with Selcom and mobile network operators to complete payments. We may disclose data to regulators or law enforcement when required by Tanzanian law.

SwahiliPay works with Selcom Paytech Limited (“Selcom”), our licensed payment service provider partner. Selcom is authorised to collect payments from your customers and to process settlement of collected funds. SwahiliPay does not hold customer money — funds flow through Selcom and the relevant mobile network operators or card networks according to their rules and settlement schedules.

5. Security & retention

We use encryption in transit, access controls, and audit logging. Data is retained as long as needed for operations, disputes, and legal obligations.

6. Your rights

Merchants may request access, correction, or deletion of account data where applicable under Tanzanian data protection rules, including the Personal Data Protection Act. Our PDPC registration number is 0-000-011-631. Contact us using the details below.
